Primary School Cricket

The primary schools cricket programme runs throughout the school year and introduces the basic concepts of cricket to children in a fun environment and connects with clubs in the local area.

Cricket, through the schools Kwik Cricket coaching programme is a fun sport and the basics of the game are easily transferable to other sports. This is great for children's fundamental movement skill development.

Leprechaun Cup

This is an inter-schools competition for schools that have completed the introduction to cricket programme. The Leprechaun Cup will give schools the exposure to real cricket using a 'hard ball'. Local clubs, council grounds or secondary schools are used as the venues for the matches.

This programme has been delivered for almost 20 years now and is one of the most popular summer events in the Leinster region. Former winners from the Fingal area include Balrothery NS, Oliver Plunketts NS, Rush NS,St. Catherines Rush, St. Brigids Castleknock. 


Fingal Girls Super League

This is a competition exclusively for primary school girls. The aim is to increase participation levels among girls and keep them in the game.

Participants are guaranteed 3-4 games with a 'hard ball' and many of the Fingal girls have joined their local clubs as a result of participating in these competitions. 




Fun Competitions

Cricket is a fun sport and the basics of the game are easily transferable to other sports. This is great for children's fundamental movement skill development. Our fun competitions are available to all primary school children regardless of ability. 


Blitzes

Blitzes are a great way of introducing children to cricket in a more competitive environment after they have learned the fundamentals of the game. Children can be gradually phased into playing with a hard ball on pitches. It's also a great way to establish a link between the school and their local club.


Cricket-4-Dummies

This programme is a guide for primary schools to practice fundamental movement skills through a simplified game of cricket.Fingal are hoping to deliver this programme to schools in the near future as an online resource. Click HERE for more details on the programme.
