What are the physical benefits of regular activity?


Undertaking regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your overall health. There are many benefits to being fit and active. It is good for our Mental Health, helps us to make friends and develop unique relationships, but one of the most important benefits of exercise is the effect that it has on our physical health


Some examples are:


Maintaining a healthy body weight - Everyone is different meaning that each person's healthy weight will be different. It is important to try keep your weight at a healthy level as you age. Staying at a healthy body weight can help fight disease.





Healthy Heart - Staying fit and active can strengthen our heart which, as we discussed before, is a very important muscle in the body. 1 hour of moderate to intense activity everyday will be of great benefit.





Improved Brain Function - Regular exercise produces feel good chemicals in our brain called endorphins, which can help improve your mood. Some studies have shown that exercise also helps the development of new brain cells. Another benefit of exercise is that you may become more alert or be able to concentrate better afterwards, this will help you to learn more in school. 





Stronger Muscles & Bones - The more we use our muscles, the stronger they get. As we age it is important to stay active, as this will will keep our muscles strong and healthy. This will also help our bones stay healthy and strong too.





Improved energy levels - As we get fitter our body makes more energy. The more exercise we do and the better our diet becomes, the more energy we will have everyday. Spending too long sitting down and eating too much junk food will makes us sluggish and tired.



Improved Immune System - The Immune System is what our body uses to fight infections, there are many ways to help keep it strong, such as regular sleep and a good diet. Exercise plays a key role in supporting a strong immune system, it is important we get that 1 hour per day of moderate to intense exercise to support a strong immune system.
