How does the heart work?

Where: The heart is a major muscle in the centre of our chest.

What it does: The heart pumps blood around our body using our veins and arteries.

How it works: The speed at which the heart pumps blood is called our heart rate. Our heart beats faster when we exercise.

We can check how fast our heart is beating by checking our pulse, like in the picture below.
